Description

A quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender chicken and crisp cabbage tossed in a savory garlic-ginger sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced (about 1/2 medium head)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced (separate white and green parts)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken and season lightly with salt and pepper; stir-fry until nearly cooked through (about 4–5 minutes). Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. Add remaining 1 tbsp oil, then ginger, garlic, and white parts of green onions; stir-fry 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add cabbage; stir‑fry 2–3 minutes until it starts to soften.
  5. Return chicken to pan. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and broth.
  6. Toss everything together and cook another 1–2 minutes until chicken is cooked through and sauce coats ingredients.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Garnish with green parts of green onions and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Feel free to swap chicken breast with thigh for more juiciness.
  • Add a dash of chili oil or red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Shredded carrots or bell peppers can boost color and nutrition.
