- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
- Cooked spaghetti or pasta for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pound chicken breasts to even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and milk, and one with a mix of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg mixture, and coat in breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown chicken on both sides until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Transfer chicken to a baking dish. Top each breast with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve over pasta if desired.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, use panko breadcrumbs.
- You can use store-bought or homemade marinara sauce.
- Chicken can be prepared ahead and baked later.
