Description

Chicken Parmesan Pasta Casserole combines all the flavors of classic chicken parmesan in an easy, cheesy, baked pasta dish. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or make-ahead meal.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, chopped or shredded
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, chicken, marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Top with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese.
  6. In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for a quick shortcut.
  • Substitute marinara with arrabbiata sauce for a spicier kick.
  • This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake.
