Description

Crispy rolled tortillas filled with seasoned chicken and fried until golden brown, Chicken Flautas are a delicious Mexican appetizer or main dish perfect for dipping in salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 small flour tortillas
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, guacamole, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix shredded chicken, cheese, onion, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Warm tortillas slightly to make them pliable.
  3. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture onto each tortilla and roll tightly.
  4. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry the flautas in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  7. Drain on paper towels and remove toothpicks if used.
  8. Serve hot with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or toppings of choice.
