Description

These Chicken Dumpling Burgers are the perfect mashup of your favorite Asian dumplings and classic burgers. Juicy ground chicken patties are packed with ginger, garlic, scallions, and soy sauce—just like your favorite dumpling filling. Pan-fried to perfection and served on toasted buns with a quick slaw and tangy dumpling-inspired sauce, this recipe brings all the dumpling flavor in burger form!

Ingredients

For the Chicken Patties:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp mayo

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sriracha (optional, for heat)

  • 1/2 tsp honey

For the Slaw:

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage

  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Pinch of salt

To Assemble:

  • 4 burger buns, toasted

  • Fresh cilantro or sliced cucumbers (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the Chicken Patties:
In a large bowl, mix together ground chicken, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, pepper, and panko. Form into 4 equal patties.

  2. Cook the Patties:
Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly oil the pan. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should reach 165°F).

  3. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix together mayo, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha, and honey. Set aside.

  4. Prepare the Slaw:
In another bowl, toss cabbage and carrots with rice vinegar, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt.

  5. Assemble the Burgers:
Spread the sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun, add a chicken patty, then top with slaw and optional toppings. Finish with the top bun and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can swap ground turkey for chicken if preferred.

  • For extra crispy patties, lightly dust them with cornstarch before pan-frying.

  • These patties also work great in lettuce wraps for a low-carb option.
