Description

These Chicken Dumpling Burgers take all the juicy, garlicky, gingery goodness of your favorite dumplings and turn them into a handheld burger! Ground chicken is seasoned with soy, sesame, and scallions, then pan-seared and topped with crunchy slaw and a drizzle of dumpling-style sauce. It’s a fun fusion twist on burger night.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Patties:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)

For the Slaw:

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage

  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Pinch of salt

For the Dumpling Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)

For Assembly:

  • 4 burger buns

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (for cooking)

  • Extra green onions or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs. Mix just until combined.

  2. Form into 4 patties.

  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F).

  4. While patties cook, toss together cabbage, carrots, vinegar, sesame oil, and salt in a small bowl to make the slaw.

  5. In another small bowl, whisk together all dumpling sauce ingredients.

  6. Lightly toast burger buns, if desired.

  7. Assemble burgers: Place chicken patty on the bottom bun, top with slaw and a drizzle of dumpling sauce. Add more green onions or herbs if you like.

  8. Top with bun and serve warm.

Notes

  • Make it spicy by adding Sriracha or chili oil to the sauce.

  • These patties also work great in lettuce wraps or rice bowls.

  • Swap chicken for ground turkey or pork if preferred.
