Description

Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole takes the classic flavors of Chicken Cordon Bleu—chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese—and transforms them into a delicious and easy-to-make casserole. It’s a comforting, creamy dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights or a family dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups cooked chicken, cubed (rotisserie chicken works well)
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, diced ham, and 1 1/2 cups of shredded Swiss cheese. Stir to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Pour the soup mixture over the chicken and ham mixture and stir to coat everything evenly.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use chicken breast, thighs, or even leftover roast chicken for this recipe.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute the cream of chicken soup with a lighter version or use homemade cream sauce.
  • This casserole can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before baking. Just cover it tightly and refrigerate.
