Description

Soft, chewy cookies that combine the comforting flavor of ripe bananas with sweet chocolate chips — a delicious twist on classic chocolate chip cookies and a perfect way to use up overripe bananas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ripe mashed banana (about 1 medium banana)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and mashed banana until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  • Use dark chocolate chips or chunks for a richer taste.
  • Sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty bite.
  • Add a dash of cinnamon for a cozy flavor boost.
