Description

A rich, spiced cherry liqueur made by infusing fresh cherries with alcohol, sugar, and warm spices—perfect for sipping, gifting, or mixing into cocktails.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh sweet or sour cherries, pitted (some left whole)
  • 1 1/2 cups bourbon, brandy, or vodka (to fill jar and cover cherries)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 34 whole cloves
  • 1 vanilla bean (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and pit the cherries, leaving some whole for added flavor.
  2. Place the cherries in a clean quart-sized mason jar or similar glass container.
  3. Add the sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, and vanilla bean if using.
  4. Pour your chosen alcohol over the cherries until fully submerged.
  5. Seal the jar tightly and shake gently to combine.
  6. Store in a cool, dark place for at least 1 month, shaking the jar every few days.
  7. For best flavor, let the mixture infuse for 3 months or more.
  8. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove solids.
  9. Transfer the liquid to a clean bottle for serving.
