- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 15×10-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Spread two-thirds of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
- Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherry filling.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let bars cool completely in the pan.
- In a small bowl, whisk together confectioners’ sugar and milk to make a glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over the cooled bars before serving.
