Description

A creamy, cheesy side dish made with tender broccoli florets and melted cheese, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam or blanch broccoli florets until tender but still bright green, about 5-6 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Combine the cooked broccoli with the cheese sauce and mix well.
  6. Serve hot as a side dish.

Notes

  • You can use frozen broccoli if fresh is not available.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor in the cheese sauce.
  • Top with breadcrumbs and bake for a crispy finish.
