- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, sliced onions, and mushrooms. Cook until softened and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Add a dash of mustard to the gravy for extra tanginess.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
