Description

Carne Asada is a traditional Latin American dish featuring marinated and grilled beef, typically flank or skirt steak, known for its rich, smoky flavor and tender texture.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, orange juice, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, pepper, and salt.
  2. Place the steak in a large ziplock bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat grill to high heat. Remove steak from marinade and let any excess drip off.
  4. Grill steak for 5-7 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  5. Remove from grill and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  6. Serve with tortillas, salsa, or your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Marinate the steak overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Use freshly squeezed citrus juice for the best taste.
  • Can be cooked on a stovetop grill pan if an outdoor grill is unavailable.
