Description

Carne Asada Fries are the ultimate comfort food mash-up—crispy seasoned fries topped with juicy marinated steak, melty cheese, and all your favorite toppings. Perfect for game day, parties, or a satisfying dinner!

Ingredients

For the Carne Asada:

  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup orange juice

  • 2 tbsp lime juice

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp vinegar (white or apple cider)

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Fries:

  • 1 (28 oz) bag frozen French fries, or homemade fries

  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning (optional)

Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

  • 1/4 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup guacamole

  • 1/4 cup pico de gallo or salsa

  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro

  • 1 sliced jalapeño (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, vinegar, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Add the steak, cover, and marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight in the fridge).

  2. Cook the fries: Bake or air fry the French fries according to package instructions until crispy. If using homemade fries, bake at 425°F for 25–30 minutes. Toss with taco seasoning if desired.

  3. Grill the steak: Heat a grill or stovetop pan over high heat. Cook the steak for about 4–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

  4. Assemble: Arrange fries on a large serving platter or sheet pan. Top with cheese and warm in the oven for a few minutes until cheese melts.

  5. Top and serve: Add sliced carne asada, then pile on sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, cilantro, and jalapeños. Serve right away!

Notes

  • Short on time? Use leftover steak or rotisserie chicken as a quick substitute.

  • You can swap out toppings based on preference—try adding queso, black beans, or pickled onions.

  • For crispier fries, use an air fryer!
