Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well blended.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then mix in vanilla and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the flour until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Spread half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the batter, then top with the remaining brownie batter and gently spread it to cover the caramel.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Refrigerate before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top for a salted caramel twist.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
