Ingredients
- 3 large apples, sliced into ½-inch thick wedges
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon water
- 11 oz (1 package) soft caramels, unwrapped
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
- ½ cup crushed cookies or sprinkles (optional)
- Popsicle sticks or skewers
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine lemon juice and water. Dip apple slices to prevent browning. Pat dry thoroughly.
- Insert popsicle sticks into each apple slice and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramels with heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each apple slice into the caramel, letting the excess drip off.
- Quickly add toppings such as chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles before the caramel sets.
- Place coated slices on the parchment paper and let them set at room temperature or refrigerate for faster setting.
Notes
- Make sure apple slices are completely dry to help caramel stick.
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a nice contrast with the sweet caramel.
- Work quickly as caramel can harden fast.
