Description
A soft, pull-apart bread with a rich buttery flavor and a golden crust, perfect as a side, snack, or breakfast treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing)
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and warm milk.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls (about the size of golf balls).
- Dip each dough ball into melted butter and place them close together in a greased bundt pan or baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
- Add garlic powder and chopped herbs to the melted butter for a savory twist.
- Sprinkle grated cheese between layers for a cheesy version.
- Use brown sugar and cinnamon in the butter for a sweet variant.
- Add chopped nuts or dried fruit to the dough for texture.
