Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided use)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (divided use)
  • 2 large eggs (for brownie layer)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs (for cheesecake layer)
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Brownie Layer: In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and 1/2 tsp vanilla until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Beat in 2 eggs one at a time. Sift in flour and cocoa powder; stir until combined. Pour into pan and spread evenly. Bake for 15-20 minutes until just set. Cool slightly.
  3. Cheesecake Layer: Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and mix until creamy. Blend in sour cream, 2 eggs, and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate until incorporated. Pour over brownie layer.
  4. Bake for 45-55 minutes until center is slightly jiggly. Turn off oven and leave cheesecake inside with door cracked for 1 hour. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
