Description

Rich, chewy blondies made extra special with nutty browned butter and plenty of melty chocolate chips. These bars are the perfect cross between a cookie and a brownie — easy, delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 tsp flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring often, until it foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips.
  8. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
  11. Let blondies cool completely in the pan, then lift out and cut into squares.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
  • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark or white chocolate.
  • Stir in toffee bits or butterscotch chips for extra sweetness.
  • Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving for a decadent finish.
