Description
Rich, chewy blondies made extra special with nutty browned butter and plenty of melty chocolate chips. These bars are the perfect cross between a cookie and a brownie — easy, delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser!

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1–2 tsp flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring often, until it foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
- Let blondies cool completely in the pan, then lift out and cut into squares.
Notes
- Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
- Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark or white chocolate.
- Stir in toffee bits or butterscotch chips for extra sweetness.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving for a decadent finish.
