Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup diced ham
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, for egg wash (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
- Add Greek yogurt and stir until just combined. The dough will be thick.
- Fold in diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead 2–3 times until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut into 6–8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter or beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
- Use whole wheat flour for added fiber.
- Low-fat Greek yogurt works, but full-fat yields a more tender biscuit.
- Substitute turkey or chicken for ham if desired.
- Freeze baked biscuits and reheat in the toaster oven for quick breakfasts.
