Description

Breakfast Protein Biscuits with Ham and Cheddar are hearty, savory biscuits packed with protein from Greek yogurt, ham, and cheese—perfect for a grab-and-go morning meal or a protein-rich snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg, for egg wash (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add Greek yogurt and stir until just combined. The dough will be thick.
  4. Fold in diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead 2–3 times until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut into 6–8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  7. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter or beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat flour for added fiber.
  • Low-fat Greek yogurt works, but full-fat yields a more tender biscuit.
  • Substitute turkey or chicken for ham if desired.
  • Freeze baked biscuits and reheat in the toaster oven for quick breakfasts.
