- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry slightly and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Cut slits along both long sides of the pastry (about 1 inch apart), leaving the center third intact for the filling.
- Spoon apple mixture down the center of the pastry.
- Fold the slits over the filling in a criss-cross pattern, tucking ends underneath to seal.
- Whisk together egg and water, then brush over the pastry.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Cool slightly, then mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over the pastry before serving.
Notes
- Use store-bought pie filling for an even quicker version.
- Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for extra texture.
- Best served warm but also delicious at room temperature.
