- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk (for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 1/2 cup sprinkles (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and almond extract, if using.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined — do not overmix.
- Press dough evenly into prepared pan.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and center is set.
- Let bars cool completely in the pan.
- For frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, heavy cream or milk, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add more cream if needed for spreadable consistency.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars and top with sprinkles.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
