Description

Soft, buttery sugar cookie bars topped with fluffy frosting and colorful sprinkles — all the flavor of classic frosted sugar cookies but so much easier! Perfect for birthdays, parties, or whenever you need a fun, festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream or milk (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and almond extract, if using.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined — do not overmix.
  6. Press dough evenly into prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and center is set.
  8. Let bars cool completely in the pan.
  9. For frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, heavy cream or milk, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add more cream if needed for spreadable consistency.
  10. Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars and top with sprinkles.
  11. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Tint frosting with food coloring to match party colors.
  • Use seasonal sprinkles for any holiday.
  • Add lemon or orange zest to the dough for a fresh twist.
  • Top with mini chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
