Ingredients
-
3 ripe avocados
-
1 small red onion, finely chopped
-
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 jalapeño, seeded and finely diced (optional for heat)
-
1 Roma tomato, diced
-
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
-
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
-
1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
-
1/4 teaspoon black peppe
Instructions
-
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
-
Mash the avocados with a fork until smooth, or leave a little chunky if preferred.
-
Add the chopped red onion, garlic, jalapeño, tomato, lime juice, and cilantro.
-
Stir everything together until well combined.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Serve immediately or cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 2 hours to chill.
Notes
-
For extra flavor, add a pinch of cumin or a splash of hot sauce.
-
To keep guacamole from browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface or cover with a thin layer of lime juice before sealing.
-
Use ripe but firm avocados for the best texture
