Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with a gooey cinnamon-sugar mixture and topped with creamy cream cheese frosting. These bakery-style treats are perfect for brunch or holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for dough)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp whole milk (as needed for frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C) and mix with the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs. Knead for 8-10 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll the dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, beat cream cheese, butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add milk to reach desired consistency.
  10. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the filling for crunch.
  • Swirl in orange zest or cardamom for extra flavor.
  • Use maple extract in the frosting for depth.
  • Make mini rolls for bite-sized treats.
