Description

This is the best banana pudding recipe ever — creamy, rich, and packed with fresh banana flavor, layered with vanilla wafers and an irresistible pudding made from scratch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 box (11 oz) vanilla wafers
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract; stir until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture gently until fully incorporated.
  5. In a 9×13 inch dish, layer vanilla wafers on the bottom.
  6. Top with a layer of sliced bananas.
  7. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of pudding.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  10. Garnish with extra banana slices or crushed wafers before serving if desired.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushiness.
  • Chill the pudding overnight for the best flavor and texture.
  • You can substitute homemade pudding if preferred.
  • Add a sprinkle of cinnamon for a warm flavor twist.
