A comforting and easy-to-make baked chicken and stuffing casserole that combines tender chicken, savory stuffing, and creamy soup for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
- 1 (6 oz) package stuffing mix
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the stuffing mix with hot water. Stir until fully moistened and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cooked chicken to the soup mixture and stir to combine.
- Spread the chicken mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spoon the prepared stuffing evenly over the top of the chicken mixture.
- Dot with butter if desired for extra flavor.
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbly and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup for variety.
- Add frozen mixed vegetables for extra nutrition and texture.
- Use rotisserie chicken to save prep time.
