Description
Beefaroni is a comforting, hearty pasta dish made with ground beef, tomato sauce, and elbow macaroni. It’s a quick and easy one-pot meal perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Add uncooked elbow macaroni and water or beef broth. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 12-15 minutes, or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally.
- If desired, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative to beef.
- For extra veggies, add bell peppers or spinach when sautéing the onion.
- Cheese can be omitted for a dairy-free version.
