Description

This Beef Burrito Recipe features seasoned ground beef, Mexican rice, beans, cheese, and fresh toppings wrapped in a warm flour tortilla—perfect for a satisfying meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup cooked Mexican rice
  • 1 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until softened.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute, then add ground beef. Cook until browned and crumbled, about 7–10 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Warm tortillas in a microwave or skillet.
  5. To assemble each burrito, place a layer of Mexican rice, seasoned beef, black beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes in the center of a tortilla.
  6. Fold in the sides and roll tightly into a burrito.
  7. Optional: Toast the burrito seam-side down in a dry skillet for a crispy finish.
  8. Serve warm with extra salsa or guacamole if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Use store-bought or homemade Mexican rice for convenience.
  • Wrap burritos in foil for easy meal prep or freezing.
  • Customize toppings to your taste (jalapeños, avocado, hot sauce, etc.).
