Description

A classic Southern dessert featuring layers of creamy pudding, vanilla wafers, and ripe bananas, topped with whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (5.1 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (12 oz) box vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gently fold in half of the whipped topping until smooth.
  4. In a 9×13 inch dish, layer vanilla wafers on the bottom.
  5. Add a layer of banana slices over the wafers.
  6. Spread a layer of pudding mixture over the bananas.
  7. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
  8. Top with remaining whipped topping and garnish with additional banana slices or crushed wafers if desired.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm but ripe bananas to prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • For extra flavor, try using banana-flavored pudding.
  • Best served chilled and within 2 days of preparation.
