Description

A classic Southern dessert made with layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and crunchy vanilla wafers, topped with whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 1 (5 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafers
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thickened.
  2. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Fold in half of the whipped topping until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. In a 9×13 inch dish, layer vanilla wafers on the bottom.
  5. Add a layer of sliced bananas over the wafers.
  6. Spoon a layer of pudding mixture over the bananas.
  7. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a pudding layer.
  8. Spread the remaining whipped topping over the top layer of pudding.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • For a homemade touch, use cooked pudding instead of instant.
  • Add a sprinkle of crushed vanilla wafers on top for extra crunch.
