Description

A timeless, moist banana bread recipe that’s sweet, tender, and full of rich banana flavor. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a cozy treat any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1/21 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper if desired.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  3. Whisk in melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk or buttermilk until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon if using.
  5. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For added flavor, swirl Nutella or peanut butter into the batter before baking.
  • Top with streusel crumble for extra sweetness and crunch.
  • Make muffins instead: divide batter into a lined muffin tin and bake for 20–22 minutes.
  • Freeze slices individually wrapped for easy grab-and-go breakfasts.
