- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with melted butter.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Sprinkle in the baking soda and salt, then mix well.
- Add the flour (and cinnamon, if using) and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the nuts or chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Banana bread can be frozen for up to 3 months.
- Try adding a streusel topping for extra texture and sweetness.
