Description

These oven-baked sweet potato fries are crispy, flavorful, and a healthier alternative to traditional fries—perfect as a snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional dipping sauces (ketchup, aioli, ranch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and cut sweet potatoes into evenly sized thin fries or matchsticks.
  3. Soak fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry thoroughly.
  4. Toss the fries in a large bowl with cornstarch until lightly coated.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to evenly coat.
  6. Spread fries in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, flip, then bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Add cayenne pepper or chili powder for spice.
  • Use rosemary or thyme for an herbal twist.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan after baking for added flavor.
  • Pair with honey mustard or sriracha mayo for dipping variety.
