For the Marinated Chicken:
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 3/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 1/2 cups tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, cumin, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Add chicken, coat well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Cook the Chicken: Sear marinated chicken in butter and oil until browned. Set aside.
- Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, cook onion, spices, and tomato puree. Add cream, garam masala, and sugar. Simmer, then add chicken back to the pan.
- Serve: Garnish with cilantro and enjoy hot with naan or rice.
