Description

Juicy and flavorful meatballs made with garlic, ginger, and a savory-sweet soy glaze. Perfect as appetizers or served over rice for dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground pork
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs or panko
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form into small, even-sized meatballs and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until cooked through and slightly browned.
  5. Meanwhile, make the glaze: in a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Stir continuously until thickened.
  6. Toss baked meatballs in the glaze until evenly coated.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a leaner version, use ground turkey or chicken.
  • Add finely chopped water chestnuts for crunch.
  • Swap brown sugar with honey or maple syrup for variation.
  • Adjust spiciness with red pepper flakes or sriracha.
  • Serve over rice or noodles for a full meal.
