Description

A warm and spiced homemade moonshine that captures the cozy flavor of apple pie, perfect for fall gatherings or holiday gifting.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon apple juice
  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 35 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 750ml high-proof grain alcohol (such as Everclear)
  • 750ml vodka (optional, for lower proof)

Instructions

  1. In a large stockpot, combine the apple juice, apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, stir in the vanilla extract, grain alcohol, and vodka (if using).
  5. Use a funnel to pour the moonshine into clean mason jars or bottles, straining out the solids if desired.
  6. Seal the jars tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 1 week to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Add fresh apple slices to jars for extra flavor and a decorative touch.
  • Use honey or maple syrup in place of some sugar for a richer taste.
  • Spike with caramel vodka or spiced rum for a unique twist.
