Description
A warm and spiced homemade moonshine that captures the cozy flavor of apple pie, perfect for fall gatherings or holiday gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 gallon apple juice
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 3–5 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 750ml high-proof grain alcohol (such as Everclear)
- 750ml vodka (optional, for lower proof)
Instructions
- In a large stockpot, combine the apple juice, apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely to room temperature.
- Once cooled, stir in the vanilla extract, grain alcohol, and vodka (if using).
- Use a funnel to pour the moonshine into clean mason jars or bottles, straining out the solids if desired.
- Seal the jars tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 1 week to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- Add fresh apple slices to jars for extra flavor and a decorative touch.
- Use honey or maple syrup in place of some sugar for a richer taste.
- Spike with caramel vodka or spiced rum for a unique twist.
- Adjust the spice level to your taste.
