Description

Delicious and chewy almond bars made with a buttery base and topped with a rich almond glaze, perfect for snacks or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
  4. Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. While the bars are baking, make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract until smooth.
  9. Once bars are done and slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
  10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a crispier top, broil for the last 2 minutes of baking while watching carefully.
  • To enhance almond flavor, toast sliced almonds before adding on top.
