- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Cooking spray
- Tonkatsu sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally to make 4 thinner cutlets. Pound lightly if needed for even thickness.
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each chicken piece in flour, then egg, then panko, pressing gently to adhere.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
- Place the breaded chicken cutlets in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway and spraying again, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve hot with tonkatsu sauce and optional rice or cabbage salad.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use a light spray of oil on both sides of the chicken.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- Tonkatsu sauce can be found in Asian grocery stores or made at home.
