Ingredients
-
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
-
1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
-
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/2 cup ricotta cheese (optional)
-
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage
-
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
-
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash – optional)
-
All-purpose flour, for dusting
Instructions
-
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
-
Lightly dust your surface with flour. Divide pizza dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a 6- to 7-inch circle.
-
Spread about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce on half of each circle, leaving a border around the edge.
-
Add mozzarella, a spoonful of ricotta (if using), pepperoni or sausage, and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning on top.
-
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Pinch and crimp the edges to seal tightly.
-
Brush each calzone with olive oil or egg wash for a golden crust.
-
Carefully place calzones in the air fryer basket (in batches if needed). Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crisp.
-
Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with extra marinara sauce for dipping!
Notes
-
Don’t overfill or they may burst open while cooking.
-
Try other fillings like sautéed veggies, cooked chicken, or ham.
-
Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes.
