Ingredients
- Pound cake or sponge cake, cubed
- Vanilla pudding or custard
- Whipped cream
- Strawberries, sliced
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Blackberries
- Sugar
- Lemon juice
- Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash and dry all the berries. Slice the strawberries if they are large.
- In a bowl, combine the berries with a bit of sugar and lemon juice. Let them sit for about 15 minutes to macerate.
- Cut the cake into cubes.
- In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, start layering: cake cubes, vanilla pudding or custard, whipped cream, then mixed berries.
- Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with berries and a dollop of whipped cream on top.
- Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Swap vanilla pudding for lemon or chocolate pudding for a different flavor.
- Use angel food cake or ladyfingers as a cake alternative.
