- 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
- Stir in green onions and red pepper flakes, if using. Cook for an additional minute.
- Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and serve hot.
